Ok...

I am definetly going to takes everyone advice...espically i wont be dealing with milling all the time and go with the 660...it seems to be a great saw and i a excited to get it out there and run

Thanks for all the advice...

Saved me an extra few hundred bucks...and many back aches

For saws in this range, I think you should also consider a 395XP.
Should be slightly more powerful than the 660 and of newer design. I think Timberhauler (?) has reported very thoroughly from field tests of the two.

peter,,, you being a huskie fan and all I was told by what I considered a fairly reliable source that the Husky 395 design with the exiting of the 394 is really pretty much about 18 to 20 years old school design with the outboard clutch and all, but I am By no means an expert someone correct me if I'm wrong :monkey: :monkey: :monkey:

i dont no too much about the husqvarna any more...one of my guys had a 20 year old husqvarna 50...it was a solid little saw with a 20 on it...too bad the idiot...was cutting down a pepper tree had is moms house and dropped it out the tree a good 35 feet and bent the whole thing to hell

I have the little 142 e series...but a few months ago i was talking to a old timer who work for husqvarna, he said part of them had been bought out by craftsmen or one of them...and that is why you u see the their smaller saws in Lowes..

dont no how true that is

but personally i am stihl man all the way

the husqvarna seems to be a great saw for many but my local husky dealer...is horrible and the stihl dealer and i like their saws

never a problem with a stihl...knock on wood

The 088 is great...My friend occasionally cuts with one. Probabaly a little lighter than my 090. I cut with a ported 460 that handles big wood nice. I ran into a couple of 36"-42" Dougs with it three weeks ago with no problem. If you set your cuts up right, there is no reason a saw of that caliber will not work. I have seriously thought about buying a 660 and will when my 460 pukes, but the 460 is really nice for packing around and down into unforgiving terrain all day.

cool...

ya i think i am gonna go with the 660...wont have to worry about power...atleast for most stuff that i deal with. The 880 i again looked at the today...just to damn heavy, sems as it can be a large strain on your back...running that all day

I use mine WAAAY more than I should...:hmm3grin2orange: The power is so cool. But, later in the project, the Super XL gets the nod. 660 w/25" bar and you will be in heaven...for a while anyway, but don't listen to me, I'm old and my back is all screwed up.
