Well, I replaced all the hoses (got delayed because it uses an older siamesed single hole seal vent/gas-line hose instead of the IPL listed separate hoses), same problem, blew out all the orifices in the carb and replaced all the carb gaskets and diaphragms... same problem.
It is now in my friendly neighborhood Stihl shop, after a short discussion with the owner the primary suspect is crankshaft seals. He's going to give it a pressure test. Since it sat for years in a shed, I wouldn't be surprised about any soft material like seals going bad. I've replaced all the rest, I think, except the cylinder gasket.
I'll check in once I get the diagnosis.
