U will have a hard time tuning it with no bar or chain. And agree it will load up and smoke badly. I personally only run synthetic oil. Lot less smoke. I bet once it does some cutting, it will be fine. Just my two cents worth!

The smoke is more a byproduct of the individual oil, compression, and tune, not so much being synthetic or not. But yeah, can’t tune it without a load

I guess that's why a vac-pressure test answers a lot of questions before I even pull them down - blown top end or not - cause and effect, you can spend a lot of time and money on a saw when 100$ will get you a mitivac, one of my main tools that gets used every day on saw work.
