Need some help on theses odd saws.

Nice looking saws, but pretty large for their displacement.

One of the 2 has no spark because of the flywheel, not the coil. It had a broken fin that got caught and ground down the flywheel. It actually ground down the film over the magnets.

I figured on a bad coil for the no spark, but I flipped on the other good flywheel and voila, spark.

I cannot find a reasonably priced used flywheel anywhere. There's just something about these saws that makes the flywheel a rare find. Likely because they're kinda bastard saws, aren't too old, and aren't a lot of homeowners parting them out.

Does anyone know if another model flywheel will swap in? Any sources for a flywheel?

The MS361 Flywheel looks awefully similar, but the keyway is wrong.

Thanks.

The flywheels between the ms270 and the ms280 are likely not the same, the ms280 went to the IEM early on, the flywheels
and saws look identical, but they are not. Go by the part number on the flywheel itself to get the correct replacement.

I think I have a flywheel. Let me check when I get to work. How much do you want to pay for one?

The ms270 pn is 1133 400 1204

The ms280 is 1133 400 1202A

The ms270 flywheel makes spark on the MS280. The broken flywheel doesn't on either.

What is "IEM"? Both coils look the same.

Yes Doug, I need one.
