This is the scoop. If you don't want to spend the extra for a pro Stihl, buy a 250. Plenty capable. If money is not the whole object, spend the extra for the 026 (260) Pro saw.
Your choice.
Why not the 251? I got one perhaps 10 years ago, still have not touched the adjusters for the carb. The anti vibe is so soft the single bar nut probably is in line with the overall package. It did take a couple years to get used to the sound probably due to the composite material. I dont use it too often lately and drain the bar oil after I do but it has been trouble free. Once I used it so hard the clutch area was smoking I doubt the 250 would be any different just be sensible if one sees smoke. Thel clutch drum hence crank center seems to have drifted toward the bar, it has been like that for quite a while, need some pliars to pull the clutch drum out.

Bring back an old thread. I was thinking of buying the ms 250 saw. I wanted a third saw. I like that is light. I have a stihl 261cm and an echo cs590. The echo cuts as fast or faster than my 261cm but the 261cm is lighter. Recently I had to replace the coil on the 261cm $160. After reading this thread I think I am going with the Echo cs4910. Never had one problem with the cs590 and always starts on 3 pulls. Both my saws run 20 inch bars. And for anyone looking at a 60 cc saw the Echo cs590 is by far the best saw for the price. Thanks again for all the info.
I believe I would go with the cs400. It's substantially lighter and they start easy and run good. Had a 490 and didn't care for it . Was weak for it's size and just didn't have much of anything that appealed to me. CS400 not much of anything I don't like except I am not fond of the small Oregon bars that seem to bend easily.
