Middle of last winter I picked this 460 up off of craigslist immediately after cutting wood with my buddy. Me running a pathetic MS210C and him a MS290"Farm Boss" pretty much bought the 460Mag before I dialed the number. It is a high hour saw, no doubts there. But it runs better than my daily driver. Been running it since then. Great compression, smooth running...etc.
So a week ago or so I was digging into my saw for no other reason than curiosity. Cut just fine, ran great, no shakes...etc. I pulled the drum off and a small piece of metal fell out into my hand. The only thing I could see It being was one of the clutch shoes(?) missing a tab. Ordered a set of new clutch shoes from eBay.
Fast forward to today, and obviously there are some differences here between new and old. Checked through the internet and the part number on the new shoe is applicable to my saw, maybe just an updated/different design?
More comparison pics. Then I noticed that it wasn't just one tab missing off of the original shoe...
All three shoes appear to be missing tabs.
I tried to upload the pics I took of the clutch side of the saw after it was cleaned out but apparently these 4 photos equal 10 uploads total.
Basically I cant see anything wrong with the saw on the inside and just want to know if someone has seen this before. Maybe this is completely common and sheds light on my inexperience with high hour saws.
Thanks in advance,
-Adam
