I have a UK spec MS660 which came with the metal chain catcher as shown in the first photo. I use it for milling mainly, so upgraged the oil pump to the high output piston from the 660 Wrap.

Just for the hell of it I recently I swapped the bar and chain brake handle to the 3/4 wrap style. I also got the long clutch cover, big dawgs and the roller chain catcher.

So far so good, but I can't for the life of me figure out how the bumper strip (P/N 1122 640 8300) goes? It fits on well enough, but when you put a bar and chain on it doesn't leave enough clearance and the chain is clamped.

Can some with a 660 wrap offer some advice on how it goes together please. So far it's got me puzzled. Thanks.

Here's the chain catcher it came with

But as you can see from the next 2 photos it interferes with the chain line

That is odd I say run it it will clearance itself after a short time. Just kidding is there any way get the tapered part in the path of the chain it does not make much sense to have the taper of the nylon down. I will interested to see. Good luck

i know it is no help, but something looks wrong with that bumper.
i put one on my 660 though i no longer have it to compare to. somehow that looks like it is either mounted too high or turned around wrong?

notice the relief in the back side of the bumper as seen in pic 3. it looks like there is an angle to that relief area as if it was supposed to fit against something different..... maybe wrong bumper strip?

again, no help but it all looks wrong to me.

I now it's a puzzle, but I can't see how it would fit any other way. the bolt hole is recessed with metal washer, so it must fit that "face" up. I have rotated it through every angle and this is the only way it will fit.

Agree it looks too low, but it is secured by the lower felling dawg bolt, so can't go higher

Thanks so far guys.

Yes, that's the offender alright. I'm sure John'll know where I've made my school boy error here.

Take the photo above and turn the part 90 deg clockwise. The part is installed under the case protector plate held on by the single screw. Let us know if it works out.

OK, I'll try that in the morning (we're 5 - 8 hours ahead of you, but the clocks go back here tonight).

Thanks, but looking at Brian's it appears to be the same way as mine. Looking at his second picture it apperas the the traper in the plastic starts at the bottom of the metal plate.

I had it all to bits when I put the new chain brake handle on it, so I have it a really good clean.

Hope your 372XPW doesn't look like that yet! I got a 346XP. I'll get some pics on here soon.

I made a thread about it here...

No schoolboy error Ironbark. You have the part installed correctly. It seems as though my bumper has a groove cut in it to relieve the chain rivets though. Let us know!

Thanks of the help guys.. and sorry I was slow getting back...

Mine does not have a groove in it:

So I installed in and turned the chain by hand to mark where the groove should be, then made my own with a file.

Job done, but I'm still surprised that I had to do this to make it work.
