MS661 takes a break during milling?

I have an MS661 that I bought on ebay (unknown history). I vaguely recall checking and finding it had the latest coil. I've ran about 30 tanks of gas through including 10 tanks of milling. Yesterday I was doing some milling vertically (for the first time). Halfway into the second slab it decided to quite. No spark. I switched to a different saw for an hour then tried the MS661. It started fine, And I milled with it for about 20 minutes and it quit again. And again after a rest it ran fine. I'm wondering if there is any electronic cut-off for temperature or oil level (I was cutting vertically) or any thing like that?

There is no cut out of that sort. I would check the wiring over closely and then throw a coil at it.

Had the same happen to a different saw. Half hour of running and no spark. Cool down and run again, same result. Bad coil would fail after getting heat soaked.

you might by now have a fair amount of saw dust and debris packed around the coil....clean it all out so some air can get to the coil and possibly clean the pull cord cover to improve the air flow andmight just solve your issue..

I have seen coils work fine when they're cold, and soon as they get some heat into them, they crap out. I would be looking at the coil.
