Hi,

I got a Power mac 6 running and than it stopped getting a spark. I tried another plug and a spark tester. What can I try? Thanks. Bob

First check to see if all the wiring is in good condition, try disconnecting the kill switch and see if that works - the wire could have a bare spot thats grounding out, check the point gap, it should be set at .018 and they might need to be filed, cleaned and re-gapped, flywheel air gap should be .010, it could be the condeser or possibly the coil could have gone bad. I'm sure there are some Mac experts here that might be able to help if these suggestions don't work for you. Matt

Pop off the flywheel and burnish the points .Set the points at .018 ",check for make and break of the ground, with a continuity check.Put it back together, give it a little choke, pull the cord.A couple three good tugs and it should be off and running for perhaps another twenty years.About the only other thing that hasn't been mentioned could be the condenser[capacitor].About any size that will fit in the space will normally work if you can't find a replacement.

Now,a little story on myself.I had the flywheel off of a 120 Mini Mac about a dozen times before I got the danged thing right.I'm supposed to know what I'm doing but some times I wonder, duh.

No luck so far. I tried two other condensors, one of which had a spark. Then I put a new Tecumseh condensor on without grounding it to the block (can't remember if that works or not). I Used sandpaper on the points and set to .018. Gapped the air at .010". Disconnected the switch. The points don't look like they are perfectly flat.

When you adjust the air gap do both points on the could have to be .010" or just the extended one.

Oh yeh, I put a different coil on too.
