I want to do a muffler mod on my 361. Everything I'm reading says I need to open the muffler to gut it. I can open it but I'm not able to weld it back together.

Is there anyone on this site with the knowledge willing to do this for me? I'll compensate for their time.

Thanks

This is an easier option. You can buy a deflector from husky and all you have to do is drill or cut a hole in the side of the muffler and slap on the deflector.

Heat the crimp with a torch and bend it out with a flathead. A little tedious but works and no welding required. Then just hammer the crimp back closed on the edge of a vise or metal whatever.

I just put some gills on the side and it was a dramatic difference. I say save yourself the hassle and don't split it but that is just me. If you were getting it ported then I would say gut it.

Probably the most difficult muffler I’ve encountered to modify. A true Beoch.

I cut the starter side rear corner off with a portaband, do all my internal work, weld on a deflector and then weld or tig braze the can back together after washing all the metal out.

Unfortunately, just adding a deflector to the can doesn’t change the internal restriction.

You can try uncrimping it, as well as doing what I said and brazing/silver solder it back together.

There is the cage left if you just port the side and don't gut it but you are losing the restriction of a pipe, cat and backwards facing outlet. Don't forget to pull the limiters, mine was waaaaaaaay lean after I gilled my muffler. I think the stock setting is 1/4 L and 3/4 H, I had to go at least 3/4 out on the L to get the chain to stop spinning.
