David newbie - I purchased a very nice 520 with a scored cylinder. I found a nice used "short block" and bolted that into mine. you can still buy the short block new, but it's probably more than you want to spend.

I’m thinking a puller of some sort might be the best way. And possibly a piece of dry ice on the crankshaft if I can get some. Thanks for the ideas

I do find that picture strange because I can’t see how that creates a pulling force. However, there are 3 threaded holes in the oil pump cover so hopefully I can thread bolts into those

Probably wont need it IF I'm successful pulling the cylinder AND it cleans up ok, so don't look very hard just yet, Thanks

Puller works great. It was pretty stuck. About to order an OEM piston. Are those round things in the picture the seals? I have minimal experience with clamshell rebuilding

so am I correct in thinking those round thingies are the seals? Im guessing that's why the piston scored.

Those are thrust washers. Must use them if originally equipped. Helps keeps the piston centered on the wrist pin and connecting rod. They do go on a certain way also! Smooth side of washer touches the piston.

Shoot! I was thinking that they might be seals. I guess I need to order those too!
