ive been thinking about different ways of modding saw mufflers, huskys mostly. Can either port it out the front and use the muffler bracket to hold the screen in, can protrude a section of pipe from the top right corner, and other ways. The one i have been thinking most about is the pipe style from the top right corner. in my eyes there is a few ways about doing it. A guy could but the pipe up to the muffler and weld it, seen that a lot. or a guy could protrude the pipe say...1/2" into the muffler to maybe create a little more muffling? i guess my question is, would protruding the pipe in the muffler 1/2" make any difference at all in sound or would the extra back pressure make it a catch 22, would there really be noticeably any more back pressure? Just kinda thinking out loud here and wondering what others think or possibly have done.

There are many examples on MM'ing here with a bunch of pic's showing them - just do a search :)

I've done it to all my saw's I own and others that other people have :msp_biggrin:

Make sure you retune your carb after you do your MM; I pick up any were from 400 - 600 rpm's after MM

And be ready for people giving you a bad time about it :)

I've done many muffler mods my self. I'm not looking for ways to do one. Just looking for input on the effects on the ones I discribed. Open discussion

I do all mine with a straight pipe or 2 but I like the single better.I weld mine with just a slight bit going into the muffler so I to would like to know. You can also put a screen on them with very little work. That round thing in front of the muffler is the old port I cut out and it did not go in to far at all.

Need a new camera.

IMO it doesn't ALWAYS make more power, but more bark is a guarantee.

Also if you are planning on selling a saw, with an obviously ported muffler, expect plenty of questions from a 'not in the know' buyer. They tend to lean away from modded saws. :msp_scared:

I don't think there are alot of people that really know your answer.I would tend to think you would want your pipe not sticking to far into the muffler.I would want the gases to get out fast without alot of blockage.I also think there are alot of people that just like to show off there work and how they did it:clap:Couldn't that Poulan pipe/cover been bolted on the other way or a screen put on it in its present spot. This 359 had my pipe screens on.
