G'day Ken

Sorry about that, I clean forgot I posted on this thread!! Lifes been a bit fraught lately. Thanks for posting the photos. Is the jungle muffler available as a part from Stihl still (!), or do you pick them up second hand?
Thanks again.
Cheers
Charlie.

I have been expirementing with opening up some muflers. No racing or dyno, just cut time by feel, very unscientific. 2 026's and an 066 so far. 066 operator is stihl smiling a month later. 026's are both impressive. Definitly more torque. I really can't give specifics because some of it was chain maintenence also. But I do believe there is a significant increase in power

Opening up an 066

Stiltech. What did you do to open up an 066?
Pictures would be nice!

I opened up the muffler inlet with a 3/8 drill on the baffle. About 3 more holes. Opened the outlet as large as possible while keeping the deflector. Also cut 3 slits in muffler front and louvred them to deflect exhaust downward.
No screens on this one, but I still can't mow my lawn around here without getting stuck, so fire problems are very low.
Like I said , very unscientific. But it sure does cut!
