alright everyone, I've been on here too long reading everything. I am wondering about moding the muffler on my 570. I have seen several post on increasing the life just by opening up the muffler. How much increase? How much noise increase?

I'm no expert on this subject but I have opened the mufflers on 2 of my saws (034 & 084), a weedeater and a leaf blower. Performance improved on all them as a result but they are louder. The 084 is so loud it will hurt your ears with out hearing protection.

What's a 570? What production year?
Many newer saws will make more power and run cooler by opening the muffler, but they will guzzle gas, pollute more, and be louder. So much louder in fact, to get the dB's down to an acceptable level, the you'll literally need to wear good ear plugs AND a good headset.
Because hearing loss comes on slow, some guys don't heed the warnings about hearing protection.
The reason the saw power increases, is because more gas is consumed, so certain models have a somewhat restricted airflow to meet emission requirements. dB levels are also a consideration.

husky 570. production year was 2005. I assure you I wear hearing protection when cutting. I am an avid turkey hunter, and if you can't hear, you can't hunt very many turkeys.:hmm3grin2orange:
