I took the baffle out of my 200T and she seemed to open up. Wondering if ya'll have tried it out on anything else that you see in my crew of saws. What are the benefits/consequences. Also, How do you do it properly? My experience with racing ATV's says jetting will need to be changed or it will lean out and burn up.

I removed the screen on my MS200T, one T27 torx screw and it slid right out. My saw did gain rpms, but it still burbled at WOT, so I did not adjust the carb. I think you just need to listen to the saw and adjust if needed.

Did you enlarge the exhaust port in the muffler as well?
Did you richen the (H) screw up?

If you did the above properly the saw will last longer and run better. If not BANG!

For your 290 remove the baffle, open up the exhaust holes in the muffler and adjust the carb.
I would probaly buy a dual port muffler for your 460 and 650 just to keep it neat and easy. It would be cheaper to open up and port your current muffler. You will have to decide based on your cash situation and how much power you want. Done correctly all three saws will see increased power.

With that 290, take a fifty foot hank of rope, some old waterski rope will do fine, and tie one end to the saw, the other to the front end of your favorite fishing boat.
Now, while your out fishing, with your new anchor, think about how you can afford a real saw...

Ya see, it is a funny thing. Because I don't have time to go fishing. Me and my Stihls are out making money everyday. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Treeman the benefits would be a cooler running engine and maybe slightly more power and you should readjust hte carb after any alternations an the muffler ,,,
just my 2 cents ,,,
