Another muffler mod question. Is there anything negative about putting another exhaust port (leaving the original like it is) in the front through the bracket opposed to the dual ports with the pipes. Is one way better than the other? I figured going through the bracket would easier and easier to put a screen on. Just wanted to see if the results would be the same either way. Saw reffering to is a 372.

Thanks,
Doug

Doug, That method works well, is easy, and is better, as you wont be jamming pipes up against the wood, and risking breaking them off.

Enlarge the existing port and trim back the deflector a bit, then make the second one about 1/2 by 3/4 inch. The total port area can be equal or a little larger than the cylinder exhaust outlet.

I was thinking of drilling a hole in instead of cutting an oval one in (3/4" x 1/2"). I figured this way I would have less chance of screwing it up. What size would anyone suggest. I was thinking 5/8".

Thanks,
Doug

The only down side I know of to putting a hole in the bracket is that the exhust blows directly forword. When i am milling, this was unbareable, it ended up blowing back at me. I had to make a sheet metal deflector. When bucking good sized maple that has moss, it will scorth the moss.
