. My feet would start to bend down over the spike and no wiggle room.
.

sounds like you have never worn a vibram soled boot homey. you dont know what your missing.

and i too will wear my crocs to the yard and change into my boots when i get there. so we can agree on that.

All right guys, let's clarify the footwear.

Boots on the left are the Airwalks I've been wearing for spikeless. Center are the Husqvarna loggers. Low heel, no steel shank, reinforce wide toe. Right, the Redwing lineman boots, high heel, steel shank, steel toe. In front are the infamous sandals for Dan.

Best all around for me are the Husky's. If I am only climbing that day and am on spikes I will run the Red's. Not pictured, the knee highs to get through Oldirty's BS about my drumming. Oh wait, those are in the back behind the boot dryer.

those knee high's need to be hip waders bub! lol

well lets break down this picture. boots on the right should be for your climbing needs, spike and spikeless.

the boots in the middle for all your ground working pleasure.

and the boots on the left should be used for laying mulch and cutting grass.

the sandals? poolside.

I've actually found a decent set of heels on boots to be good for foot locking. If I angle my left leg sideways a bit the rope lays right in the crook of the heel, wrap my right leg under the rope, bring it around and stand. Works fairly slick. But the best thing about heels on your boots is they keep you on your toes. I felt 16 again the first time I laced up a pair of them for a day's work. I'll never go flatfooted again.

well if you had the puberty i did the friction burns are already there. whats a little rope burn going bother? its just another scar.

lol

No comment, that's got me in an all out laugh, and the wife's trying to sleep. Priceless. I got nothing, you win, that's too much!

Yes they make you feel like 16 again, a 16 year old school girl with high heals. When you have other boots and swap out regularly your feet feel better. wise to do.
I should look at some other boot options and YES, Vibriam soles are pretty slick and gumy. That's is what is on the hunting boots but still not as ample as a pair of mucklucks. I have never worn a steel toe but I should I guess.
Nails, it looks like you are about ready to take on the world. To hell and back, you have the footwear for it.
Dirty, stop telling me what I have never done.
Mds, go find a real guy to do your stumps.( at least keep it to yourself)Hiring known crackheads puts us all down.

I swap my work boots out regularly. At quitting time everyday. That's when my flat-footed, non steel-toed jobbys come out. But on the job, I need to be quick and the heels definitely help. There's also the benefit of being able to dig your heels in when pulling a rope and a steel toe is more than a necessity when you kick as much arse as I do on a daily basis.

dude. vibram soles have nothing to do with traction on the sole. its the steel shank that is in the sole that stops your foot from bending over your spikes!

muckalucks are not climbers man.

you have not worn good boots to work in. thats what you have never done.

I knew a guy who only rope climbed, never wore spikes. If he took down a conifer...
This guy was always in shorts, no shirt( used tanning oil) and I think his sneaks was Puma.
Now I can't figure out who is tougher: the guy with hard core ####kickers or this friutloop with the awesome tan.
Blakes, you are the master. How is your 3 ringer crew going? Nice to have all that, uhm, reliable help? Are you guys working together?
By the way, I always had to finish off Puma man's trees. It would have been better if he helped drag and lower.

This just makes no sense to me. What are you getting at?

Listen: I have worn good boots( currently) because I have worn not so good boots.
I just looked at the Wolverines, which I picked up at ####'s. It really not important that I paid 1/2 off the 170 they were asking but what is is importtant is that they say VIBRAM on the sole. I just went and looked.
My old Redwings say VIBRAM as well but the difference in the gum and cushion is way different. I suppose both have a steel shank but not as big as a specialized work boot. The Reddys are very hard while the wolvies are softer. That hard heal makes for slippy wippy. And to me it seemed that my foot bent more in the Reddys.
Its basic sense man, what kind of tires do they put on for good traction? A steel belted radial with gumy tread.
If you telling me that Redwings are not good climbing boots, I agree. But you are funny. How is Alaska?

i remember when treemandan first showed up. all polite and innocent, not wanting to offend anyone.

then someone called him a troll.

now he's made his way to the committee. his attacks may not be sharp or very hurtful but he's trying and for that dan i called you a buzzard.

you then claimed not to be very avaricious. but still your unpleasant.

welcome to the committee pal. go grab a rake.

Well, this might not have been the right place to ask but I was inquiring how you were doing with you partners and kinda told a story about someone I knew who climbed in Puma sneakers and had a good tan.
Also I admire anybody that can footlock although I don't understand why they do it.

Thanks for your concern about my business. We are fine. I don't understand the significance of Puma-man but it's a great story. I foot lock for now because I find simplicity fun. If I can get anywhere in a tree simply with my rope, my harness and a throwline I'm happy. I like the idea of not having much jingle-jangle. I'm looking into getting a Pander to make the ascent a bit easier. As for removals, I always use spikes. Another great use for a heeled workboot.

i have climbed in the redwings. the best? no.

right now i am in chippewa's and before that it was the georgia boots, 8 in loggers.

and i also gave the carolina's a shot.

my only beef is that they dont last long enough.

one thing all these boots had in common was the vibram soles and steel toes.

that'll be the common factor in all work boot orders from here on in.

why you ask? because they dont hurt my feet when i climb.

my very next logical step is to go top of the line with the wesco's, white's, or vibergs. rumor has it they last. i will find out and i will then tell you what i know.

i'll be in AK on the 15th.

Yes I am attacking, watch out here I go. You're nuts! You tell me about not knowing all about Vibram soles( which is right I don't) so I go and look at the boots I use. I come back to tell you what I found I I get this.
I have to admit all this over boots in funny but personally I have tons of reference on the subject AND am curious to see what others have to say.
Do you know how many times I have come to jobs and saw what goes on? All over boots? Sometimes its the joke of the day.
But you are funny Dirty, How's Alsaka? By the way my rake says STIHL on it and don't stand to close, you might get hurt. Might blow you off your high heals. Tell me to grab a rake? Oh the audacity. I really have never said this to to many people because it is their choice but RELAX. Please. I am just killing time waiting for Mrs. McAndrew to get back to me so I can get a check for 8 tons of pea gravel. Nice lady, I have to do some trees and shrubs as well. I just want to get all my equioment down there today and I am still in my sandals.
