I have been screwing around with it all day. you still cannot look all the way down the rail groove, but Its better than it was. I guess I should be satisfied for it being a 32''r. I called logger supply and asked them if they had any 32'' bars in stock, no. So I am not going to #### around and wait another 6 weeks for them to get me a new bar if they even wanted to play along...

#### it. . .

I've had pretty good luck putting bent bars in a vise and pushing/pulling. Takes awhile, but it's harder to over-do it that way. Trying to straighten a bar with the powerhead on is like using a breaker bar; it'll work, but at what cost?

If it is bent the same top and bottom you can usually bend it back with a vice, or whatever else, but if it has a slight twist, good luck. That is why I have this table in my saw shop:

2" thick solid steel and long enough to lay a 32" bar on (I am sure it would work for longer too). A good dead blow hammer, maybe a steel hammer for some fine tuning, and she would be true again.

I like that table. It is kind of like a really big anvil.
If you have a piece of heavy steel to lay on top of it and sandwich the bar it helps some to help get it going back the right way.
I don't have a big dead blow hammer but I have a pretty good selection of soft hammers and tempered sledge hammers.

JEEPERS!!

Whats that table weigh? 5/600 lbs? Ide like to have me a table like that!!

That table is sweet, and I was glad to snag it from my Dad. It is like a big anvil, and from the conversion calculator on google I figure it weighs about 700 lbs. I always wanted a table like this for working on bars. It will go well with my bar rail grinder.

Blows with a hammer works best. Concrete works great. Bent bars in long bars= really crooked cuts. They multiply the crookedness the longer the bar. Big deal in our production. Ya need purty logs!

So...your 32" bar is bent. Fix it & get over it.

You know when it's easier to leave it running while you step back & see there you are dropping it? Don't do that.

Don't go that. The bar is not designed to have a powerhead idling 24" away from the end of it. It is designed to keep this chain moving really fast in the wood.

Been there...done that.

I'm not the one whining about a bent bar.

I'm the one that told you how to avoid a bent bar, but it must be beyond your pay grade.
