Yes. Eastern White Pine from a local sawmill. I stained by hand with a brush and used Cabot cedar stain. One coat last year and I'll do another this year. It's tongue and groove 2"x10" log with large v groove set on 1x3 strapping.
The house gable is a channel board to mimic the carport's board and batten, but in reverse.
Carport /shed is rough milled Eastern White Pine from a local Amish sawer near me.
Boards are 10" wide x 5\4" thick. Battens are same thickness and 1 1/2" wide.
It hasn't been stained but will be doing that this year as well. Not sure what to stain it with yet. Maybe same Cabot stain.
Wood has maintenance, but I think it looks ok. I'm happy with it.
This is a before pic when I had just started rebuilding the decks and handrails.

I know you have hot summers, we do too, but ours are usually humid.
For the last 10-15 years they've gotten steadily hotter and hotter.
Last few years we had heat waves of two weeks straight at 35C plus.
And with our humidity here in The Great Lakes region it can feel over 40C.
I recall and few days in a row at 44C
It was actually one of the hottest places in North America then. Hotter than Arizona.
I do all my work in early and late hours of the day on those Dog Days.
