Hay y'all!
This is cainnon from down south I'm new to the forum. I've worked as a ground man for a few years when I was a few years younger but never owned my own saw. I need a good saw to fell pine and maybe some smaller oaks. I also do a little timber framing on the side. I'm sure I could use it for that to...
What would be a good used saw or new saw I wanna spend around $300. I'd prefer American made but I'm not opposed to any other non communist country's
Thank you so much
Cain

well what saws did you use when you were a GM that you liked? how big are the pines? a 440 with a 24" just about covers all you average work a 260 if you wanna cut a bit slower but have a lighter saw or a 460 if you want more power then the 440 ahhhh just get a 660 with a few different bar lengths and be covered for everything

The boss man had all Huskies. I don't really recall What models numbers. Id like a 24 or 28 inch bar. The trees I'll be cutting are not much bigger than 24 inches.. I've had my eye on the ms 261 it seems like a good combo of weight and powers with put being very large.
Thanks for your recommendations. When I get my leafy green money check I'll just pick up one of each!

That 346xp is in my price range. Is it true that huskies are different quality depending on where there assembled? Thank you

I would buy a good quality mid size saw and buy a cheaper small saw. There are lots of cheap saws in the 50cc and under range out there that would be perfectly suitable for limbing and timber framing. Probably could buy a non runner that could be fixed up for less than $20 in parts. I think a mid size saw with a 20" bar would be adequate for what your needs are. Maybe have a 24" for it in case you run into the occasional bigger stuff but if you buy a saw too large, you will wind up using your too small saw so you don't have to lug it around. (my opinion)
