Not first tree, but first video.
We were clearing out some trees for my friends septic system near his new home.
the tree is just about 20" DBH.
These trees are pretty tall and straight for oaks, I believe this one was about 75' tall.

Kinda sad to buck them up, but we have no equipment to move logs.

Anyway, throw out some comments for this amateur firewood scrounger please.

If anyone knows how to rotate the video in youtube, please tell me!:dizzy:

nice job

a few things i noticed

you cut the face while standing in the lean of the tree
it's always a good habit to get into to NOT stand in the lean of the tree

also, you made your face cut on one side, but backed it up on the other side
do everything from one side
it'll help keep your cuts square

Thanks man,
I have been having some trouble keeping everything squared up.
I'll try staying on 1 side

We'll be cutting some more in a couple weeks.

Rotate the camera or tilt your head.

LOL, obviously, I was not filming:)

Get a couple of wedges too and get into the habit of using them. I'll palm a wedge most of the time - unless the tree has a real obvious lean inthe direction you want it to go. Otherwise, it can be a real b*tch if you've mis-read the tree and the tree sits back and don't have one placed already or the tree doesn't quite want to go over and you've got no holding wood left to give. Make sure you've got a good sized axe (2/1/2 lb head) to beat it with as well.:greenchainsaw:
