no, a screen would have messed with my tuning too much, the ONLY thing stock left is the muffler shell. inside of the muffler has been reworked for flow and im still tuning the deflection area tuning how the exhaust shockwaves can be used for my tuning. soon the cover may not even be stock anymore.

Not to pour water on anyones fire, but if you get caught on Forest Service land out here without a spark arrester, it will cost you a bunch (fine), and if you did start a fire, they will try to pin the entire cost of the fire on you... same for quads, trail bikes, etc...

Actually, I own this saw now. I bought it from Ben a while back. It runs well and it's my go-to beater when I need a beater, which is in my yard bucking or stumping dirty wood. The other day I dimantled a log that has washed up on the beach with it. It was nice to have a saw I felt comfortable cutting that salty wood with. I'm thinking of putting one of those big-bore kits everyone is talking about this past week. It's a project (read: mess around with) saw, so I figure, "Why not?"

I never take it anywhere I'd need to be concerned with a spark arrestor.

I never claimed to be an expert in figuring out exhaust sizes but I do know that the fuel can't get in if the exhaust can't get out.
One of my old Macs blows black smoke when it idles but in the cut it runs like it has a tuned pipe,[not enough restriction ?].I have heard of exhaust sizes ranging from 3/4 to 11/2 times the exhaust port size.
