I think I was too. I still remember having a small, green, toy chainsaw. You know, you pull the cord out and when you squeeze the throttle it made a simulated saw noise. That was about 30 years ago.Big kids get big toys I guess. My Husky 395 has taken its place :)

Had my first treehouse when I was 5. Fell out of my first and only tree when I was six. Parents moved to Albuquerque when I was 7 and I remember there were no trees there, to speak of, and I can still remember the pain I felt over that. Built my first real delux treehouse when I was 12 (Michigan, big ol oak) and used it frequently until 17. Took a good number of girls up there;). Remember feeling the most joy when climbing and eating of fruit trees.

My first job out of college ('88) (while looking for a 'real' job) was schlepping palm fronds in Florida, completely intrigued by the chainsaw monkeys in front of me. Finally, 1991, took a job as a climber. Enjoyed the heck out of that Summer, but was concerned that my wife would somehow be embarassed by my being a treeguy. After discussing, she said, (and I quote), "I would be proud if you were a treeguy." I was 100% from that moment on and can not see myself ever leaving the profession. I love trees as much as life itself.

Thanks for allowing me to share my life story.
