All,

Many thanks for the information and support getting my busted ms200t up and running. Here's the history:

Stihl MS200t Chain Sprocket Cover stuck

ms200t How to remove carb and clutch

MS200t run problems

When last you all heard from me, it was starting but only ran about 20 some seconds. I finally broke down and took it to a Stihl shop near work. It needed new crank seals and they swapped in a used carb (yes I had a "new" eBay carb), all down for about the cost of a new Poulan Wild Thing (a good deal in my book). Oh yeah, it also had a hole in the oiler tank which they fixed with multiple layers of JB-Weld, which didn't even show up on the bill. (Did I mention I like these guys?) While I was there they pointed out the oiler is corroded, functional but corroded, so I'll be keeping my eye out for a good deal on one.

As promised, here's the after pics:

How's it run? It's a screamer! I've never handled a chainsaw that can rev so high. It started cold (well, cold for 85F ambient temps) on the second pull, it did conk out once, but after that ran for ten minutes straight (until I shut it off), mostly idle, and I did cut off and section an annoying branch that's been sweeping the side of the house when it's windy. It sometimes hesitates a bit when accelerating, so all is not perfect (but still very usable), and considering its history, I'm very pleased.

I'm also relieved, as I've got quite an investment in new and used parts into it!

I'm glad I don't have CAD like a lot of you guys, but I have started perusing CL and the local classifieds for more chainsaw bargains. I don't need a zillion chainsaws, but one of each size would be nice. And one of each make. You know, so I can select the right tool for any job. That's not addictive behaviour, right?
