Heh, i saw his stuff for sale today in Tree Trader i think I recall him say he's buying a bigger bc1800 chipper..

WolverineMarine, the mt52 was a great for the price.. its got a little leak on the drive motor im going to pull and fix this week, other than that its great, im in the process of painting and replacing the decals because im OCD over my stuff.

The grapple you mentioned would give me more reach but loosing some lift height. I talked to Dave over at Top Notch for awhile one day about the branch manager grapple. For now i will stick with the $600 forks. By the way (wolverinemarine) are you ever on Officer.com?

I've got a Boxer 320 and loving it! It's 34.5 inches wide and the tracks don't widen or narrow. Here it is with the branch manager grapple.

I take it thats yours TreeCo..like it? I was thinking the 532 I think..or the biggest one..

see? that's a big log up on that little loader. Wow, what a deal you got. Poor bastard you got it from huh?

Thats not the biggest one of that White Oak log on the ground either. The trunk dia at the face cut was 34" it would load that in a 3ft section. The company I bought it from had 3 of them with trencher attachments.. The residential irragation market has flopped.. So they had to get some cash quick for there debts i quess. They wanted 4k for it but the alternator was not charging when i went to pick it up.. So they siad it was mine for $3500, i traced it to a loose connection at home so i was grinning:) about not having to buy a $300 alternator..

TreeCo what size log is that in that BM Grapple? Did you loose alot of lift height?

JTT, congrats on the great purchase! Looks like a steal  Really glad to see you're already puttin' it to great use. I love to see so many more people loving these great back pain replacements. Good luck to everyone closing out the last quarter of the year!

Here I am! Sweeeeet deal, Jtina! Even if you had to pay twice that amount for the mini, you'd still think it was money well spent.

For the record, I'm still alive and kicking. Things are going fine, albeit, a bit slower than usual. My chip truck and 12" bandit chipper are for sale because I DID buy a vermeer 1800 chipper about a month ago and am loving being able to feed big wood through it with my mini skid! Unfortunately, my Mt-50 is in the shop this week. Best case scenario is a bad water pump. Worst case scenario is cracked head. :(

Had to feed the 18" chipper by hand yesterday with the mini out of commission. My back is still sore from lifting the 15" logs onto it.

As far as grapples go, no one grapple fits all applications. If you want to be able to clean up stumps and carry rakings and small debris, then a bucket thumb grapple like mine (see photo) works very well. You can still clam brush piles and carry logs well although large logs can be tricky until you learn a few tricks for picking them up. if you don't plan on carrying small debris then a clam grapple would be the ticket.

Take a look at the other photo of my chip truck. The space between the chip box and cab is where I haul my mini. makes it a great setup for rolling up to the job with chip truck, chipper and mini skid all in one rig. I can load from either side. I keep my saws in one toolbox and all my rigging gear in the other. If I don't need my towable aerial lift, i have everything I need in one setup.

Welcome to the mini owners club!

(I suppose we could include ASV30s as in the club too, scott) :)

Crud. Looks like the heads on my mt-50 might be bad. Keeps using water and there doesn't appear to be a problem with the radiator, with hoses or with the thermostat. Water pump possible but mechanic thinks there is a crack in the heads and is sending the in to get checked.

Anybody else have issues with the small kubota diesels cracking heads from overheating from not allowing them to idle and cool down after use? He's thinking that's what happened with mine - that I overheated it and shut it down before it could cool causing the heads to crack. Sounds like a common problem with kubota motors...?

I think you mean head intstead of heads being that it only has one.
That sucks your machine is out of service, Im a mechanic by trade but only familiar with Ford powerstrokes and gas engines.. If your Kubota was burning water i would think it would have been some steam out the exhaust.. If it was burning a very small amount you might not see steam..

If I was loosing coolant I would pressure test the sys first, including the radiator cap. Once the caps get old they are known to leak.. If everything there checks out ie, hoses, cap, radiator, hyd oil cooler, water pump, external coolant leaks on engine block.. Then its probably going into the cylinders..

Its pretty hard to overheat a Diesel unless its gets low on coolant and keeps running that way.. Did the temp gauge show hot any when you used it? Hope this helps you..

Yeah - the temp gauge showed hot. In just a matter of minutes it went from normal temp to so hot that it actually blew the top piece of the radiator off where the cap screws on. A radiator shop soldered the piece back on but now it won't hold water when I run it for 10-15 minutes - the water level drops in the radiator to the point that it begins to overheat again.

Blowing the top off of the radiator speaks of engine compression pressures entering the low pressure cooling system.....i.e........cracked head or bad head gasket.

That whats it sounds like, It would be nice to find a Kubota salvage yard, with a low hour in engine.. of course this would only be in fairy tale land..
If it gets hot repeatedly and is shut down the head is probably toast.. A straight edge on the gasket surface would reveal this..
