I've designed quite a few tilt-ups over the years. I always kinda enjoyed it as they are such an efficient building system.
It's always funny on "lift day" when workers in neighboring buildings go inside in the morning with no building next door to them and then come out in the afternoon and ask where the building came from...
.
Yep- it sure seems to go up fast.
The project I'm working on now has had me tied up for the last year and a half in one way or another. It contains nearly 800 planels between 4 buildings. I've been working with the design team (architect, engineer, mechanical, etc., etc.) as a coordinator / detailer because I can use my field experience to find problems, conflicts, etc. and produce solutions. I then generate field drawings that our field hands can understand. Most of this work I do from home but when it comes time to lift them I travel to the site and run the crew. Lots of work but a pretty good gig for me.
