Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of my firewood gathering yesterday morning. Most of the wood is ash, maple, or ironwood.

That's a sweet little rig, what is it and where do I look for similiar equipment for non-commercial use.?

nice old forwarder,I deal with ironwood but it doesn't get very big around here, mostly underbrush and whip size, stuff loves to get tangled up in crawler undercarriages it is like rubber.

It's an old skidder that we picked up. It is made to pick up/stack small logs. This one is a ford tractor front end with a gaffner loader. You can usually find them at equipment dealers. Sometimes you can get a good deal on them, as most loggers are moving on to more modern equipment. Size varies quite a bit also. This is one of the smaller ones. A full bunk is only about 2 cord. The larger machines handle over 5.
