Looking for an asplundh take-off chip box or the like. 11' max length to put on a F550 chassis with or without hoist. Anyone know of something near MN or within say 500 miles? (I'm helping another guy out -not for me). We're already aware of those selling from some of the larger companies for $2500+. Looking for something cheaper and closer to MN. Let me know if you have an old truck sitting in the weeds or know of a salvage box sitting around and I'll forward the info. thanks.

14 gauge sheets. It has held up really well, the graphics are hardly scratched as of yet and I have had the truck over a year.

The steel cost about a grand, took me and two guys a day to do, my local truck shop painted it for 400 (I think they underbid it) and I got the graphics done for about 1500.

decent build job. Unfortunately, wouldn't be as practical for the guy I'm helping as he has neither a flatbed nor hoist to build from, only a chassis. Would be more cost effective to buy the entire box with hoist than to acquire the flatbed and hoist and then build the box.

would be great if someone had a junk truck sitting around but a sound box and hoist to salvage from it - even if the box needed some tlc but wasn't all rusted through.

I know another tree guy that told me he would sell me his custom built alum chip box thats on his chevy 3500 for $1500. I dont know what size it is, but if there is interest, I can find out more. It has a tool box infront of the chipbox

I know it's a long way from MN but theres an old Asplundh 11' box for sale in New Hampshire. It's on craigslist. I can't remember how much but it was cheap.

That alum box i was talking about, he called me the other day. He wants $1500 for it. If your interested, I can get you pics. I am all to busy, so i could deliver it for you for a small fee too.

thanks for your help. I found Luke (guy I was helping) an older chip truck just an hour away from him and it had a good 11' box and hoist that he could use. He's just going to sell the remaining chassis. I think it's an early '80s c60 or c70 with a good 350 engine and standard manual tranny. Pretty slow on the road though - it's geared to pull Luke told me. Anyways, if you want a cheap cab and chassis or part truck in the st cloud, mn area, let me know and I'll give you Luke's phone number.
