I know this isn't logging but this is where I am at while I'm here. What is the weather report for North Cal. I will probably be in on the second wave. We sent some crews to help with power problems down there. They left a 6a and are now stuck at the fruit inspection station on the boarder from the snow.

They will be there for at least 5 days and then another wave is going to head out when they get back if there is still a need for us.

I don't know where the first wave is headed yet. The second should be headed to Yuba City, Chino, and that area. I would be part of the second if it happens so I am looking for a damage report and predicted weather problems. If you can help I will know what to pack to be ready.

Thanks for any help.

You need Gologit. But if he isn't here, this is a good place to start.

http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=Willows,

Type in the city and state in the upper left hand spot. I typed in Willows because it is between Yuba City and Redding and I have friends who live there. It is on I-5 and has a friendly Wal Mart. :) You'll have to type in the city because the link is not working like I think it should.

Good Luck and be careful down there. If you make it that far, the Olive Pit in Corning? has clean bathrooms and sometimes free samples!

I'm about 1 1/2 hours south of San Francisco, in the Santa Cruz mountains. We got hit this morning and there is another storm coming in Thursday morning. The news is showing a lot of downed trees and some local flooding. The Thursday storm is susposed to be wet and windy. The ground is saturated so small slides are coming down and the forcasted 30-50 MPH winds could blow trees over.

Hey Owl...

Just got up to head for the woods and found this. The NOAA site that Billy Bob posted will give the best and latest information. It's where the local forecasters get their information. We got clobbered pretty good.

Also, KCRA television has a good weather site...interactive real time radar, all the goodies.

I'll PM you my phone number. If you get down this way give me a call. I'm working right now but I might be able to talk the boss out of a day off. :) If they send your team to Yuba City or Chico you'll have highs of fifty or so and lows of forty...not bad compared to what you're used to up there. Brush up on your Spanish, Iranian, Hindu, Punjabi, Hmong, and about ten other languages...otherwise you can't get coffee at the 7-11.

Like Patty said, the Olive Pit in Corning is good but if you get to Williams on I5 you gotta stop at Granzellas. Patty will agree.

Stay safe.

Got your message. If I am able to get down that way and get a bit of time I will give you a call.

We got word of the guys down there now. Took 14hrs to get to Chico or Chino not sure which and Oroville and some other place up high(running on snow cats). They said there is lots of damage to deal with. Busted, leaning, missing poles and wire. Totally different world from what we are used to up here. They have a local guy with them so they don't get into trouble or stumble into the wrong areas. When you need an escort to stay out of bad areas that makes you wonder about things. Next batch they said if help is still needed would be from Yuba city to Sacramento or up on the coast some place, I would hope for any place but the coast.

Thanks for the weather sites I will be keeping an eye on things as the time comes closer. Ever hope something happens, while at the same time hope that it doesn't happen?

Chico isn't bad. It's a farming town that grew up. It has a University...if you call it a college people get insulted.

Chino is a whole different story. Southern California. If they send you to Chino just fall down and break your leg. You'll enjoy the pain and plaster a whole lot more than going to Chino.

On escorts into bad areas...it's probably wise. Lots of meth labs and herb farms in the foothills and mountains. PG&E owns quite a bit of land, including timber land, and the dopers are a constant problem.

There's another round of storms due in early next week.

There's a brewery in Chico. Their beer is not as good as Rogue Ale or the one here that cannot be put in print correctly but is D.I.C.K.S. The food at the Chico brewery is better than the food at the Rogue Brewery.

That's all I know.

I think I saw one of your trucks yesterday headed out of Oroville toward Berry Creek. Oregon plates, definitely a line service rig towing a little trailer.

There's another round of storms headed in.

The heavy trucks and bucket rigs are white and orange, the short trucks are white flat beds with bins and racks. The talk of the second run is going the rounds, but it is fading. It will be Wed or Thurs before harder plans are made. If it does come to pass I will be there though. Hard work, long hours and good times to be had.
