I have a rather unique situation. I have an opportunity to fell approx. 3 acres of hardwoods for an area farmer. The landowner has all the heavy equipment and will remove the logs. Logs will be moved to a mini-mill that the farmer owns. My job is to cut the wood and nothing else. My round-trip commute will be 70 miles. Trees average 3 to 3 1/2 diameter, mostly oak.
I have never done anything so large. I will be doing the work on the side(weekends, days off). Is it best to do this on a per-tree basis or hourly basis?
And what type of insurance should I carry? My business insurance is in a different line(construction) and will not cover me.
thanks for the input...
