Hey guys, wondering if anyone can identify these ropes. Had a look at a few sites I'm thinking the orange/white in first pic is Teufelberger Sirus bull rope, the solid red and blue ropes are Samson Tenex TEC? but i don't know for sure.

thanks for the help!

You're correct about the Sirius rope, and there's Tenex-TEC in there, but the blue 12-strand hollow braid looks like Amsteel. It won't feel like the polyester Tenex-TEC to the touch... feels rather like you're handling fiberglass insulation. No idea on the blue/black doublebraid.

I'm not POSITIVE, but I also believe that blue/black rope is a rigging rope offered by teufelberger. I think it's the 9/16 version... the 1/2 is red/black.

Again.. not positive.

@JeffGu does Amsteel have 2 carriers per strand? I thought it was single. Yet again, not positive. My guess also would have been TEC

Edit: also, you and the Gu are 110% right on the orange/white line. That's Sirius bull no doubt about it.

No, it's single carrier... think the color rendition of the pic made me think it looked like Amsteel. Probably Tenex-TEC, then.
That link to the Teufelhamburger Poly Nylon line looks like his rope, alright.

thanks for the help!

Having a close look at the Poly Nylon that looks exactly like it. And yes its the pic quality thats gives the blue tanex tex that look, in person it looks much more solid blue.

I did order a rope bag from treestuff, needed some rope for clean up after the forest fire. Figured id take a gamble on the rope bag lol, Its almost like they knew i wanted rigging rope based on the bag i got. Couldn't find anything worth while local.

One more question for you guys, when checking the diameter do you measure under some tension or relaxed? for example the sirus bull orange/white they offer it in a 12mm and 14mm. Relaxed it measures 14mm on my caliper, under some tension putting a bit of pressure on my caliper its 12mm.

The guys at Samson and Yale told me that they measure it with about 50 lbs. of tension on it. I assume that most of them do that. Just pull it tight and try to keep some tension on it and you should be able to get real close. Braided stuff just doesn't lend itself to extremely accurate tolerances... :cold: ...but I think Teuf keeps the colors the same for ropes of a given diameter. Not all do. Tenex-TEC will be whatever color the distributor asked for, as they don't color code them by size. Neither is Polydyne.
