Ok here is the deal... I got a almost new Shindaiwa 757 for a screaming deal.... Was going to sell and put toward a 044 or a 372.... But hell the damn thing might just be nicer than either saw... Much more straight foreward with only the necessities instead of all the sugar coating that the stihls have. Worst of all everyone seems to like them... Someone please tell me to sell it and go with one of the others.. Right now my for use saws are Huskys, 394 and a 61 with a few nice older Homelites for play 925, 924, VI123, etc.. Since I don't do firewood anymore I figured I could get rid of the 61 & 394 and get a mid-sized 372 or 044... Just for play of course :greenchainsaw: So now what do I do? And no just reading your minds already..... I am not keeping them all and getting both the 372 and 044....... Well maybe........:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

If you like it, why not keep it? There's no law that says you have to have a Stihl or Husky. I'm a Husky owner myself (50 & 61) but I also have a little Poulan Micro XXV I like a lot for small jobs. Everyone says Poulans are junk - I don't care - I like it, if you like your Shindawa don't worry about what anyone else thinks. Matt

Keep the Shinny

I have a local dealer that sells Shindaiwa and he says that the customers that buy then love them. Celebrate diversity!

I've not run a Shinny, but I do know their other OPE is top-flight. Several Shinny saw fans on this board, too. "Bulletproof" is the word they always seem to use when describing theirs.

Competition improves the breed...more power to ya!

Well, I am one of those Shindaiwa fans on the board. They make good equipment, and if you got a screaming deal on the 757, why sell it? Chances are you won't find a screaming deal on the 372/044 that you are looking for. The 757 benefits quite a bit from a muffler mod - the stock exhaust outlet is too small. They also benefit from a woods port - they have a very good cylinder to start with and lots of power can be had. The 757 doesn't have the revs of the husky, but that is what you want if you are cutting big Washington state wood. A 28" bar, full comp, 7 pin is no problem for the 757. 28" bar, skip chain, 8 pin procket is no problem for a woods ported 757. I am not going to beat the drum for my brand...the 372 and 044 are legendary saws. The 757 is a quality machine you will be happy with, it will last you a LONG time if properly cared for.

Here is a couple pictures of mine.

I say run the Shinny!! Well built, and should out perform the 372 and 044, and have oodles of tourqe!! They are built like a fine Swiss watch, I sure wont say anything bad about the way they run! They do need to go on a diet, I wait with excitment to see what they come out with when they finally update their lineup!

Keep them all!!

I keep buying more saws and just tell myself its all about the right tool for the job!:dizzy: My newer saws get the use when the serious cutting needs to be done, and the old, antique stuff gets used when I'm cutting without any time limit, mostly for fun, but with a purpose, if you know what I mean. Can't have too many saws in my opinion.

I've had several 757's over the last 5-6 yrs. It won't out perform a 372 or 440 in wood under 24" or so.............the chain speed just isn't there. Shindaiwa claims 13,500 RPM no load but that is just too lean for that saw to run, 12'500 is a more appropriate RPM figure.

Throw on a 32" bar and cut bigger wood and the 757 comes into it's own.

I have no 757's anymore.............Four Paws bought my last one.

If it was better than a 372 it would have stayed and the 372's would be gone!

Another Shindaiwa fan

I've run mine with 32", 24", and 20" bars. For my use the 24" bar is the one I turn to most often. The 757 doesn't see as much use as my smaller saws, but I will say that it sure is nice to have when needed. I've had enough good luck with the Shindaiwa equipment that I stick with it. If I were going to go with something else it'd probably be Husqvarna as we've got a great dealer across the river in Washington. No knock on Stihl, it's just that the people who run the Stihl business aren't quite as friendly. I've bought mostly used equipment so the value for the dollar is quite high as they aren't as popular as the others.

Welp, proven wrong again!!

Sorry so long to reply... Started vacation.. On the wifi in hotel :)

Ok this is kinda the reply I wanted... But one thing that buggs me is that nothing is compatable with the 757's not even other shins... My 61 can rob parts all through the 272... I like that... One thing I havent done much of is parts price the shin stuff. But I know used husky stuff is all over the place.. Stihl is too but you might as well just get new stuff for the cost of it.. I got the shin for 200... And its..... Sweeeeeet  just some slight fading of the top cover. If I keep will need bigger dawgs and wrap around like paws pic. Or just make an easy 150 and throw it in the pot for something else. I just wish I had the 3 saws I want to try head to head... Keep the one thats best for me. Or as I said earlier keep all 3 :D Just have bout 7 saws right now and just use them to cut a few chords for my dad. Truthfully I just love to play in wood and I like nice saws... Who doesn't... Will keep you posted.
