Yeah, after 21 years of working on saws and being a certified technician in Stihl, Husky, and Jonsered dealerships, I've pretty much seen everything possible. ;)

I actually have all the printed technical bulletins on the 045/056 series and they document all the changes, including bore sizes on both models. What you guys see in IPLs is not gospel, especially since saw manufacturers contract third parties to produce IPLs.

My two saws appear to be all original. There's no "molestation" marks on the cylinder base fasteners.

I knew I had a strange feeling that I should trust your word. All I know is what I have heard and what Mike Acres site shows.

That cylinder looks alot better for an 048. Here is the one I have with a few broken fins. If your interested in a backup or want to try your porting skills for one, PM me.

Those can be ported quite a bit. The numbers on the 042/048 are quite low, since they were designed to make their power at around 7500-8000 RPM.

No worries. I'm wrong some of the time, I'm right some of the time, and most of the time I just have no clue. :D

I'm the dumb a$$ that sent Johnnie the wrong P&C!!:bang:

I've got the right one going out to him on Monday.......

Now I had actually not mentioned your name on purpose.... Glad you can poke fun at yourself over a mistake, some folks will fly off the handle at the drop of a hat. I am probably the easiest going feller you will ever meet, I just roll with the punches.

Roanoker494,
Do you still have this head & cylinder? If so is it used and good condition or new and do you want to sell it? Mine just blu and has the same numbers. It's an 045AV
Thanks Rustyacres2
