Also, in my opinion. .. blowing holes through your air filter cover does nothing but get your filter dirty faster.

No the holes are drilled in the plastic manifold the filter goes over yeah I hate when people drill holes in the cover for the filter

Do you have pics of what ya dun to it. I'm not sure I understand.

Im young but that doesnt mean im too "cool" for hearing protection, Im just confused about the whole carb mod, main question is does the 290 or 390 carb drop more fuel into it, Id assume more fuel means more bang. Id just like to find other fun things to modify other than just porting not dogging on it im just on a budget id love a ported saw

More fuel doesn't always mean more bang. It is very easy to over carburate something. The whole engine works together. What happens with any mod is that somebody has found a spot of the whole set-up that could be improved. i.e. a muffler mod......on certain saws, people have found that the muffler is a restricting element. They have opened it up and found the saw performs better. Of course it's louder as well. On certain saws, they have enough carb on them. A larger one won't do anything to help. In that case, it's only when the cylinders are ported, muff's are modded, etc, that they can then use more fuel.

Exaggerating the fact, put a Holley Dominator carb on your saw and see how it runs...... It's all about the total package, the system working as a whole and where it's inadequacies are. We improve the weak points, but not everything is a weak point.

Oh God then i hope you guys dont judge me......So one day I sat down and just looked at what could be improved in the air box, i noticed all the air is sucked threw the top of the plastic duct for the air filter to bolt on so I drilled several holes threw that also found that the stock ms361 air box had a big blocked off gap the in the back left in the pic where the screwdriver is next to the holes I drilled to let air threw that gap. *note if you do this make sure to rub the plastic shreds off real well these could cause engine damage*

only holes in the outer cover are two i put down underneath the choke, run, lever. Only place that seemed smart to get air from and Im not much of one for tacky looking saws so its hard to see unless your looking at it under a table, and my exhaust mod, lmao dont ask the first 3 holes were drilled up front then it seemed like i gotta lotta black **** all over the saw so I made some side ones

sike no joke went out cut acouple cookies stock, drilled these went out again to cut some cookies it had gained more throttle response if we 361 owners can ask for anymore of that, Air movement within the air box come on if there a restriction like in the picture the two holes by the screw driver was a wall at least an inch in i can stick my finger thats restriction when the carb sucks air threw it has to pull all of the air in that back left around a wall
