I have a New Holland LM840. It has a Perkins motor with a Lucas injection pump. Here lies my issue. We need to put the injection pump in time, but dont know how to. It is a type 1282. Model number 8920A802T. I can not find it on google if any one has any suggestions please let me know.
Thank you,
Eva

NH should have a tech line but probably a M-F 9-4 type of hours, try calling them.

yea the several tech lines i talked to were of no help. I think I may have found the perkins manuals i needed. Finally. Thank you any ways

There is a cover on the injection pump that has lines stamped/engraved onto the cylinder.

What you should have done was using a bar to lever the engine to #1 piston @ top dead center.
With the #1 piston at the top of its stroke you would mark and record the position on the injection pump and everything should be OK.

Where you are at now... There in a cover that you'll remove that gains you access to the flywheel. Use your pry bar to bring the #1 piston up , etc. Your engine service book will tell where on the harmonic balancer the mark is the #1TDC.

Not to ask a silly question, who decided to to this procedure all backwards:jawdrop:

Any good diesel mechanic will fix this problem with no issue. It may be worth some bucks to do this IMO.

well intitially this started out to get the battery charged enough to get her out of a empty lot we where using, then we noticed ice running down the block and found several cracks in the block. we took everything off and then realized we didnt have the perkins book to degree the timing in. i think we may have the right stuff now though.

Sounds like you may have your hands full. I didn't know that NH made a tele-handler. I'm guessing someone failed to check the antifreeze. We just about had a problem this winter with a similar machine.

Is the machine a recent purchase?

Good Luck!

Tom

no we have been abusing this one for about 8 yrs now. got the pump in time, got the motor welded up, should get the fly wheel from England thur or fri. No there was no antifreeze in it, but i am sure the constant over heating all summer didnt help much either. Now I am trying to find a fan that doesnt cost $740.00. I call it a Lull Lift what is a tele handler? Sorry for the ignorance, can I blame it on being a chick.....?

Ignorance.... not at all! I had no idea that NH imported a "tele-handler" until I did a search. I'd love to know where this machine is built? 'Guess somewhere in Europe?

New Holland refers to this machine as a tele-handler. Sorta a British term.

Here in sunny NC we use the term Lull too.Shooting boom, etc. Its all good

Did you buy this machine new? How many hours are on it now?

Stay warm!

It was originally made in Ukraine. We got the fly wheel ring out of England. The parts are ridiculous expensive. A plastic fan is $740. Crazy. I dont know the hours of this specific one. We have 2 The recent one we bought new the one I am working on we have had for about 8 yrs, but bought it gently used... ha. I can tell you this though, we have abused our new hollands something awful and with the exception of this one they are all still kicking. Hopefully this one will be back to snuff friday.
