Need Help with VINTAGE saw info..W/PICTURES

well on my way home from work this morning n seen a saw shop out in the middle of no mans land...figured id stop N browse.. i walked in and the ole timer had TONS of gear drive saws sittin around. all in excellent shape. Needless to say, non we're for sale.. he had remingtons and wrights and David B's, Homelites, etc etc. i was in heaven..lol anyhow i told him how i wanted to find a couple old ones to tinker with and just pretty much hang in the garage..he then replied Follow me son, i got some you can have..

I followed him out back and he gave me 4 saws..3 of them are locked up (cant pull them anyhow..the 4th turns over, but seems to be low on compression and the pull return spring is broke (fixing it now, had to take a time out..)

The Remington PRO 88 (serial# FL5609) turns over and is the one im looking to MAYBE salvage?..

the other 3 are as follows:
David Bradley-Three-Sixty (model#917.60003 Serial#69212)

Wright: Model 316-B

Homelite: 700 D
(Serial#1053839)

I need to get pictures but they all look cool and weigh a ton! lol like i said, the remington is only one as of now that looks salvageable due to fact that it turns over (is MISSING the damn muffler like all the other ones ive read about..)

The Wright Saw would be totally AWESOME to get runnin, its like a HUGE sawzall! lol The other 2 are of no major concern, but would be awesome to hang on the wall! lol

IF anyone can gimme info or point me a way to find out Manufacture dates, please do so! Thanks a bunch guys! i know someone will be able to help!

Yep Acres site would be the best help.

Sounds like you did real good. The ol David Bradleys are ear busters, but you can dog them in as much as you want and they just keep diggin.

Good score!

Thanx guys! yah im all boned up..haha. ok so.....
The wright is a 1963
The David B is from 1950's
The Homelite is 1960-61
and the Remington is a 1958..Freaking AWESOME!!!!!!!

Now hopefully i can find parts for the Rem and salvage the wright as well..thems my 2 hopes..lol

With the people here on this site I bet you could get them all running. Looks like they might have been left in the weather a bit though:msp_cursing:

Anything free is worth a look at. Nice haul.

Thank ya sir! i may never get to run them..but who cares..Man-tique's are always cool!! lol

I can not say for all of those saws but the David Bradley should have a cast iron lined cylinder. Might want to try spraying the cylinder down with a good penetrating oil and see if you can free it up. If not, it is not impossible to find good used top ends for those old Power Products engines.

that was a great haul. My father and I have been collecting and restoring antique one and two man chainsaws for at least a few years now. We have been doing it the old fashion way, finding them at old car shows and swap meets. We have been looking for a wright for years now and have only seen one in person in a museum.

Update!!

ok welll, the david b is free'd up..turns out the gear drive system was all stuck n stuff, preventing the motor from turnin..how bout that ####! lol so...cleanin it all up, gonna squirt some gas in it N see what happens? Woo, lets hope it runs! haha. seems like its got some hella-awesome compression...so we'll see! lol

BTW, you can mount another bar on that saw and have 2 going at the same time. I believe it cuts 4" apart between the two.

Another update, lol..

The David B. Runs..but i need to do carb work now..i put all gear drive back together, minus the bar N chain blob (all rusted solid..) dumped oil in the gear box. Cleaned the plug, blew a little gas into cyl with a squirt bottle, pulled the string and first pull, it fired right up..ran for about 3 seconds N shut off..lol..WOOOO!!! now its time to clean tanks, carb and oil line. KICKBUTT!!
