if he's making that much money a day he needs to pay you better plain & simple then give you more once you get your DL back......
he should but may make me wait till i get them back and the will be may or unless i get a hardship but i hear they are really hard to get. i may just tell him to give me more or i walk but need to find a company that is not to worried about it for now idk this really suck lol

This is not going to help, you need to take care of your family. You're boss told you "get your liscense back then we'll talk" What's wrong with earning your way to better pay.
thats what you should do. backing your boss into a corner will not be good for you.
That company had climbers before you got there and there will be climbers after you leave. just because you're better than three ground guys whom in your words "don't have a years worth of experience between them" doesn't mean your great. You know you're good when your peers respect you, and this is not the way to get there brother.

My insurance company sends a bill every month (or every 6 mos, depends on policy). That way I don't "forget" to pay the bill. They even give me a 20day grace period to cover my forgetfulness. Say your employer needs a 3-man crew to remove a tree and make a profit: one to drive the chipper truck, one to drive the wood truck, one to drive the bucket. Oh, and one more licensed driver to drive the truck you can't legally drive, in order to get your highly-skilled self to the job site. Or he just lets you drive and risks the fines. In the former example he's paying for a 4th employee on a 3-man job. There goes the profit. In a sense you're costing him money. If an unlicensed driver gets pulled over driving a commercial vehicle in Michigan, the fines, not to mention the inconvenience for the owner, are significant. Been there. If all you've said is on the up-and-up, I think you're worth $20.00, but not without a driver's license, and not in Michigan. Because you make less, the best alternative is to make the ground guys do more. You're the leader, delegate some of the reponsibility you've taken on. Share some of your skills with the ground crew. If you can't get paid more, make your job easier. Judging from what you've shared you're not the type of guy who "forgets" to pay an important bill. The first lines of this post are in response to my incongruity.

If you got the boss by the short and curleys like that than my suggestion would take a few days off than renegotiate your pay maybe the hole in the roster will remind him of your usefullness or may be you'll get canned at least you'll know, ya know..
Not to be rude but I will not hire anyone without a drivers license. Not having a drivers license is the most leading indicator that that a guy does not have his #### together. I need guys that can drive equipment from A to B. I dont need a premadonna tree climber that is half wacked and cant keep his affairs in order. I will not hire anyone that cant pass a drug test. This is an internet forum, anyone can say their the greatest here, but if your truly awesome threaten to quit and see what your offered. Either you will be compensated with what you are are worth or you will learn why your lucky to be employed or you will be sent packing.
