Hard to say, I've seen some osage orange(hedge) in an old fence row that looked similar. Farmers around here have been notorious for burning the fence rows for years, which really puts a change on what some of the trees look like. Without seeing some leaves, I can't really say.

Buckthorn and you lucky it's not a nasty thorny one.
Same BTU as mahogany 35mbu.
osage orange and rock elm are 32mbu.

Don't burn your stove out.
Fun to try and figure out when it's fully dry, almost same weight wet or bone dry.

Oh i've had my fill of the thorny stuff, didn't realize it burned that hot. Yes, it is very dense, my buddies throw it aside and dont mess with it, i like burning it

Oldcarcrusher25x,

Yeah it's some mighty fine wood to burn, nasty to get though.
I get a few face cords a year removing them to cut other trees and always end up looking like I took on a stray cat LOL
