Hi All,
So last year, I planted about 30 white spruce saplings. There is one 200' stretch where the trees severely yellowed (looked like iron chlorosis, but wasn't). I tested the soil pH in that section and it registered 4.9-5.2 throughout.
Now, in retrospect, I should have tested before and amended prior to planting.
So, questions for you all:
-Am I ok to apply pelletized lime to raise the pH around these trees even though they are already in the ground?
-If yes, how close should I get to the trunk given how small the root system currently is?
The remaining trees I've got planted had excellent growth, and are a rich deep green. pH on those is between 6-6.5, so that is my aim in these more acidic areas.
