Today we went and got the survey. I took a look, and the river birchs are definately on our property, and 2 or more of the pines. I went and I started cutting this afternoon. I got the bulk of the 2 birch trees down. A little while after I started cutting, the neighbor comes home and comes over to me like this big, fat, old chihuahua and wants to know every little thing. I showed her the survey and she said that I could cut whatever I wanted to on my side of the property line, but she said not to touch the pines at all. And of course she asked 50 questions regarding permits which I have known the answer to for the past 3 or 4 years. I said that I would like to cut down a couple of the pines because it won't cost either of us any money, and I have somebody who wants the wood anyways. She said no, and claimed poverty and all this other crap. However not even an hour earlier she is saying to me about how they are putting in a new driveway come spring time and will be going down 1' with the item 4. This past summer I was cutting their yard for free as a good neighbor type deal, and now they are giving me this crap. As far as I care, they can start grazing in their yard, I will not mow it again.
I swear to G-d that if those pines fall on our house, I will dry up their wallets like the saraha desert.

Today I finished the job, I cleaned up nice on their side. Once I have the last lead down, the old bag comes over and says to me that I should have discussed this with them prior to doing anything, and blah blah blah. I wanted to shout in her face that I told her ass a month ago exactly what I planned to do. In that time she could have come over and talked with me about it. Then the beautiful part kicks in. This other fat cow comes over and says that because the pine trees are all in a line, and the river birch's are along that same line, that they own the river birch's too. IMO that's almost like saying "Well your house and my house are in line with eachother, so I own your house too." I showed them where the marks are, and they said that the marks don't matter.

I was doing tree work on a really expensive property on a cliff overlooking the ocean here. Ther were some scummy little trees that were just on the customers side of the fence (property line?) right at the edge of the cliff, so I started cutting them down as asked. The nieghbors (both doctors) came out just screaming thier heads off. The customers started yelling back, what suprised me was that they were all over 60. It was bad, finally the customer said "o.k. f&&k it leave em alone" Then we were done, he brought out some drinks for us and then ranted to us about his nieghbors. Saying stuff like "****** doctors think there god, remember this half of them were in the bottom of their class". The could hear him talking, an uncomfortable scene for us all. Sad situtation you have there Treeman, glad my nieghbors are decent people. People here gave you some good advice.

Glad I don't have those problems.... My nearest neighbor is litteraly a mile away. They really need to put a fence all the way around cities to keep wackos from moving to the country. My wife's parents have some neighbors from one of the big cities in CA. that moved in a few years ago and they still can't seem to grasp the concept that they don't own every thing.

Had a customer once that had us raise up some arborvitaes across the back of her property.they were a good 2' from the neighbors fence.Big trees.the neighbor was ripped because the trees were his.he just put the fence up between the trees and his house.Turnes out that because our customer had been taking care of that strip of land as his own for over a certain number of years it became his. This is just in MA I dont know about other states, but if you can get a fence up and keep it up over your property line for a long enough time you own it.I know it sounds crazy but these guys went to court and thats what they were told.
