NetSuite Small Business benefits give growing businesses a competitive edge.
• Make better decisions by giving each employee real-time information.
• Turn your Web presence into a dynamic tool providing real-time inventory and unique pricing, providing a personalized experience for your customers.
• Tight integration means you no longer have to transfer data between your store, accounting and inventory — saving you time and money.
• With access anywhere through an internet connection and a browser, you and your employees can manage your business virtually anywhere.

Service industry case study:

Our new technology consultant recommended this to us, and I'm checking it out. I'll keep everyone posted if you want. It allows you to do customer managment, accounts receivables, accounts payables, payroll, time sheets, etc. all online. They have the software and servers and do all the updates. All you need is a browser.

Right now, we have accounts receivables on one computer, payables on another somewhere else, job tracking on yet another at yet another location (we're talking miles), payroll is outsourced another 90 miles, and billing is largely done on paper or with Word. Yikes. We need something better, I know! Especially with 26 employees this year and more on the way...

This type of program is used more and more today. It is very common for a company to have servers in one place so that several sattilites are working on the same project. The price is right since you will not need to have a managed server, change backup tapes and just maintain the server.

The medical industry has been changing to this in the last year. My only concern would be how often does your internet connection go down. When it's down so are you. But if you are mirrored on one workstation at least you know what has be done for a day or so. Give it shot what can you loose, people don't like change but once a system like this is implimented and figured out you'll be stream lining. This will give you time to follow up on things that get by you.

You would be amazed at what a palm can do for you. It can make a big change on just remembering phone calls, performing maintance, follow up on quotes....... Let me know how you like it if you make that move.

Lots of ISO 9000 companies have already switched to a web-based ISO system.

It's WORLDS easier to track, update, and maintain.

I can see where the application of a web-based system as above would be the cat's ass!

Thanks for the input. We'll likely make the switch to NetSuite or a competitor  around our fiscal year end. Slightly before most likely to get a running head start. Thankfully, August is always a slower month.

The cost is about $2000 per year, seemingly expensive but far, far cheaper than any alternative. Not only does something like this do what we're already doing in a more costly way, it offers hundreds of tools that I haven't even thought of doing before. In fact, it could pay for itself in a couple of months just doing things better than we are already doing! Yikes.

Plus, it does offer handheld integration. Now you know the truth behind my interest in this. :) Keep ya posted.
