They can run good. Particularly with a longer bar. Most guys don’t go crazy with them because of the already heavy piston. They definitely benefit from more oil in the mix

I would send it out, I had a nice conversation with Buxton, I know there are others as I have been kicking it over with my 562, mostly I just don’t want the added noise TBH.

Used to shelf all the 365-372 xtorg cylinders till i tryed out one of Walkers that came in for a miner repair- couldnt believe the performance out of that saw so changed my mind about the doggy xt and found the info on line what I needed to do to them to stand up and go like hell and a very dependabe saw at that- they have proven themselves over time- usually put SKF metal cage bearings in them or the equivelent.

I was talking to my dealer the other day about bent crank shafts. He mentioned plastic cage bearings. Did the OE saws have steel and the Xtorque have plastic?

not sure if I have ever seen an OE witn nylon keepers- took down a stihl 661 and a 461 and both had nylon keepers so stihl uses them too, i't not like they are all destend to go but under heavy use or overheating metal stand a better chance- not seen anything much in the way of bent cranks- imo

If you send it to huskihl, it will be louder when it returns, but it will be done right.

Any thoughts on the X torque/strato ported? Does that solve some of the doggy issues? I assume it wouldn’t do much for crank bearings.

I ported my buddies. I mostly copied a guy named bellhopper on youtube, he built one that ran good.
I widened the exhaust, matched the lower transfers to the gasket, notched the cylinder extension beside the lowers and lowered the intake about 1mm so it opens at 80 degrees. I did no machine work and it still has a gasket, the squish was about .030 so you cant take the gasket out without machining something down. I gutted the air horn so the strato gets a tiny bit of mix from the spit back. He also runs 32-1 in all his huskys.
The saw is snappy, there's no bog or doggy issues. If you are running a 20 inch bar run an 8 pin, it'll make up for the lack of rpm, it four strokes under the limiter, set it to about 13000rpm.

did the same thing from bellhopper, did put the squish at 27 because i do have a lath an used a base gasket and did the air horn as well as the boot gutted- saw was on the fire line all summer and off to a falling job in the fall- experanced faller in love with that saw 40-1 mix- if lowered got to check the cylinder isn' bottoming out on the case sny widening of exhat yo have to be very careful because the piston cutouts are very close
