Forgot to include.....this thing is real sweet. Now I will need to work a little harder starting this year to pay for this baby.

Have not had a chance to try it out just yet. I am sure it is like the demo I borrowed.

It is 65 ft but also has a 10 ft elevator making it 75ft. I am told it requires only routine greasing....no re-building is needed and no cables to replace. It has been very cold here and have not had chance to play with it yet.

Diesel, Catapillar engine. Under CDL (by 700lbs) which will be nice.

I really like the interior of the vehicle (GMC). I will also welcome the AC during the summer time for a quick break from the heat.

I am going to do my best to keep it in excellent condition as time goes by. It already feels as if it is my first born. I plan on this being the last major purchase of this type in my lifetime.

I guess I can quote the intimate details of the financing and insurance.

Price of the the unit was 105,530.00. Financed for 6 years. Payment is $1600.00 month. Buy out at the end of the lease is $21,000. Insurance on the unit is sky-high $1080.00 each quarter.

I believe I received a pretty good deal. I accepted this terms after getting several quotes from different companies.

While I realize this is a lot of money, I do think I will be able to handle the payments. If not, I will need to make some adjustments.

The main reasoning behind such a large purchase was there were some trees I had to turn down because of the height. I am not like you guys climbing over 100 ft and more. Wish I had the nerve. Anyway, this unit will be safer and more productive for me.

There are many times operating the 55footer I have I wished I had an extra 10 ft or so. I hope by purchasing this unit I will be satisfied with the height for a while. I am sure that after the first year I will think I need an additional 20 feet. So is life.

Anyway, I think it will work out fine. I do love it, but the payments dampen most of the excitement.

Catapillars are awsome, just get in the habbit of changing air & fuel filters regularly. Also if this is your first diesle, you'll learn fast in cold weather plugging in the block heater will help it start easier. I think it even cuts engine wear down, oil flows easier when warm. Set a timer to turn your block heater on about 3 or 4 hours before work, also set your heater setting to defrost & high heat so your windows will clear faster. Hey you said it's cold, theres a few tips & tricks for ya.
On the side of the hood under the GMC-c7500 I would put in small letters, ''cat house''. I'v seen these stickers on some of the big trucks running around. Looks cool... its a guy thing.
Check with your local cat dealer they probly have them.

:D

That's a nice truck. I think you'll find that you get more work with it. People like to see nice equipment and are willing to pay more for a quality oriented company.

I don't think you did bad at all,, the monthlys are less than I thought I'd it be,, the ins. is a little steep but it's a new trk. so you probaly have to have full coverage.

You'll like having that extra 10',, I wish our trk. had it alot ot the time. With the rental companies renting out JGL's 40 to 50 ft. trees are getting few and far between any more. Maybe the trees are just getting taller. I'm going to have consider moving up myself some day to a 70 footer,, I'm just undecided as to wheather to keep using Elliott or switching to the more popular knuckles.

I couldn't tell from the picture does the truck have a headache rack for the cab, it looks like it does not, this a feature I would seriously consider if it doesn't. I'm not trying to rain on your parade but with trees and booms, you get in these close quarters next to the truck or over the top of it, or the wind is against you and a limb will hit the truck, it's almost a given even though you try your hardest not to let it happen. I've got some competetion here that don't care what they drop on the truck, there headache rack is so bowed, reminds me of a sway backed old horse.

Good luck and congrats on your new baby, thanks for sharing.

I got a new bucket a couple months ago.Its a 2003 75' altec Gmc 7500 cat 7 spd spicer and air breaks so its CDl.Mines got a chip box and alot of boxes. Its an awsome truck,Ill have to get some pics tomarr.:D

Axe, while it is a given that I wear glasses, take a look at the black thing going up over the cab. It was hard for me to make out.

As far as insurance goes... I was talking with a friend of mine a while back about insurance. The guy has 4 trucks, 1 of which is a 10wheel dump truck. He told me that he pays $6,000 just for liability per year for that one truck! Granted... NY rates, but still.

A headache rack is a MUST! Complete with a layer of 3/4 plywood and a canvas(or not) cover.

Subwoofers won't hurt, either!;)

treeman 82,

Your right it is there, I had to take my glasses off to tell for sure, I can see details up close, much better with out them. It sure blends in with ceiling, you can see light peeking through the top here and there. The front supports blend in with the building frame, by the bay doors.

Menchhofer, looks like your all set and ready to go.

Yur young and spry, Carl! Go talk to a banker!

But to ans an earlier question you axed, I would get a crane before I would get a bucket.

But, buckets are mighty freaking fine!

Gotta get college out of the way before me and the banker meet.

That is what I was thinking about with the crane, as you can ride the ball to work if you had to, but then again, you couldn't get near powerlines.

Take a look at my new thread in Off Topic Forum about the college plans.
