I joined up with a local tree service since I could not keep doing removals without help. It is a good crew, but they have a few things to learn. It will take time to show what I know. I have only been there 3 days. So far so good.

Nearly all of their saws are down. There are broken teeth, bent bars, out of tune saws, saws that have been hit by trees, etc...
I tried to sharpen one chain last night that had hit a nail or concrete and every tooth was a different size, some were broken, none of them were sharpened correctly or with the right file.
I asked about the broken teeth and was told that it had been like that for a long time.

I suggested to the owner to get a few rolls of chain, a breaker and spinner, and I would make him chains for all the saws. He said he didn't have the money for it because he had to buy new saws all the time.:dizzy: I nearly fell over! Some of these chains would be salvageable with a grinder, but they don't have one.

I am going to make sure my saw is in tip top shape and take it with me on Monday. I am tired of using saws that don't work. I will be the only one running my saw. They can sit back and watch. Maybe they will learn something. They are great guys and have a LOT of potential, but they need someone to teach them.

I never understand why someone would continuously fight a cut with a dull saw. I've got spare chains for every saw that are sharp and ready. Change it and go.
Burning up saws because of dull chains is beyond stupid. Good luck with that outfit. Sounds like a circus.

I will give it some time and see what happens. Maybe I can teach them a few things. If not, I will be looking elsewhere.

That's pretty woeful, owner sounds like a retard if he cant understand he needs sharp chains to run his biz.

Meth? Maybe, to me sounds like your working for how 75% of tree services operate...

They are good guys. I really don't think any of them do drugs. They just need to learn more about maintaining equipment and working efficiently.
I am sure I could help them, but they have to want the help. The boss was real excited about my skills and background. I am just going to jump in and fix the gear. If he doesn't like it, tough.
