After much consideration I am thinking about pulling the trigger on this starter kit http://www.wesspur.com/climbing-kits/deluxe-rope-climbing-kit.html. I am gonna add a spliced eye to one end of the climbing line but besides that it seems like a good place to start. Any feedback or gripes would be appreciated

Na I figure I will just be doin some pruning while I learn. Once I get comfortable I will think about removals. I never plan on making a living doing this just a hobby for me (and a little free heat).

Did you see that the picture shows three Am'd triact locking biners, but only two are listed as coming in the kit? Also it doesn't say you get the throwline saddle bag, but on the other hand it doesn't show the tree climbers companion book either but does list it in the contents section. Just a heads up. -Josh

I bought the combo kit from Wesspur although I haven't used the spurs yet. I upgraded a lot of the kit. I'd recommend a friction saver and at least one extra throw weight. You might also want to consider a helmet.

Josh I noticed their were a couple discrepencies but I am calling my order in so I ask about them for sure.

Good to hear JDS. I will add a Friction saver for sure as well as a split tail and the footlock upgrade, also gonna get a spliced eye added to the climbing line. As far as the helmet goes I have various types of helmets kickin around here, one will have to do for now till I get the account back up a bit
