Yup. I like the 385 the best. It's cheaper than the 660. I heard they sell for about (the 660's) $950. The 385 is $669 on bailys website. $730 everywhere else but comes with a 30" bar.

I have a Jonsered 2186, which is the same as a Husky 385. To me in small and medium stuff (up to 28" or so) they feel about the same. In anything bigger, the 066 takes it with ease. The 066 has more torque, but also weighs more. I sold my 066 becuase of the weight after dragging it around in the woods. The 2186/385xp are great running saws and definately cheaper than the 066/660.

Thats what i've heard. I always thought J-red and Husky were the same but my grandpa said they weren't. Are prices any different?

My 2186 has a husky handle bar and piston in it...Long story short, no Jred dealers around here. Same except for the covers and the handle bar is angled a little different

Pricing varies by dealers, but looking online they are within 10-20 bucks for the same comparable models. Typically Jreds are more expensive. The Jred dealer I have found by me wants like 800+ for a 2186 and I have seen them around 700 online. Most online shops have the 385 between 680-700, with baileys being the cheapest under those #'s.

I got mine used and don't have near that in it, but then again mine is used and it isn't going to win any beauty contest. The saw has been beat on prior to me owning it (amish logger) and it keeps taking the abuse.

Thanks, steve. I looked at the Jreds and they are very nice looking saws.

Dont stop with the jreds look at them all. Dolmar and Solo are the next to you need to check out. I have a couple of solos and they are strong running saws. Made in Germany.

There's no Solos sold anywhere in the PNW..and Dolmar? maybe.. a small time dealer near me said he's gonna carry them, but he usually only has a few homeowner Huskys on his shelf...no pros that I know of frequent his shop. N o Efco's sold out here either....another good saw brand.

I give up. How many Yankee dimes is the 660 over there.

About 1300-1400 USD with 15" bar (!) and chain, if the exchange rate havn't changed a lot lately.

Saw prices are generally about twise as high here as in the US, but the 361, 441 and 660 are bargains (relatively), compared to Huskys and Jonsereds (and some other Stihls).:greenchainsaw:

Yes, sure!:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

Maybe they ship the Huskys around the world before the deliver them here, right across the border, and in Sweden itself (they cost about as much there, also).  :bang:

By the way, the Jonsereds usually cost less than the corresponding Huskys here, but not much.

I have a Solo 651SP that has been woods ported. It's fairly low hours, and I really don't need it. Make me an offer over $200. That's what the mods cost.....
I could post pics and videos of it cutting versus my other modded 3 cube saws...so you could see that it is slower, but not that bad.

You'll have what could be the only modded Craftsman saw ever...

My first 066 was the red light special, dual port muffler. I got it in 93 I reckon, I think that was the first year of the 066. sold it to a very good friend for $175, after I scored my current one, used, for $750- but that deal included a low hours 036 Pro!!! It's also the old, dual port stock, but no compression release 7.7 hp version. It's my only stock saw...no need to hop that bad boy up! Dave runs his with a 42 inch bar, me 36.

How long has this "Solo" brand been around? Never heard of them...

Not surprising considering you hadn't heard of a 385 either.

Once you run a big saw like the 385 or 660, you won't pick your 034 up again.

Kinda funny your name is Stihl4life and you say you think Huskys are the best on the market.
