View attachment 322748 Nice mill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I built one also last year. Lot of fun huh? This is a pic in the building stage. I built a wood bunk just so I could saw. I didn't have any plans so I was trying to figure how high I wanted the bunks...
That looks good. I like the rollers you used.

Yeah it's the first. I'll probably end up making 2. One for a 24-28" and one for 36-42" bars. This one is going to be set up for a 36" for now.

I have a used 42" or 44" bar and chain for sale if you or anyone else needs one. It hasn't been used a lot , I just don't need it. I got it in a trade but I have one already.

If you guys need any custom parts, feel free to hit me up. I can't work for free, but I know how hard it can be getting small jobs done at regular job shops.

Question for you guys that have posted completed procut style mills: do you cut both directions on your mill? Or just the direction that will have you cutting with the "bottom" of the bar(if it was setting upright)?nice handiwork BTW!!!!

I cut in both directions. I can't tell any difference in the cutting speed. Plus it helps me not to get tired of being in the same position for along time.

Some guys report that the angle of the saw bar can change how the saw cuts. I guess if you do it just right, the saw will pull itself into the cut. Since I've never used a CSM, I can't tell you either way.

I cut both ways plus at a angle of 10°
With my 36" bar. With the 48" bar it is square an I cut both ways also.
I don't see much difference either way.
I do it to save the bar from cutting on one side plus. I don't have to raise the bar to pass back over.

My saw bar is at about a 10 degree angle also because of the way it mounts on my system. So I am cutting on that angle forward and backward. To say it cuts better or worse than if it was square with log I don't know but it seems to be ok to me.

Do you mean the tip of the bar is up or the back edge of the bar is ,that would ware the bar fast if its the back .

Here's a little progress for the evening. I got the hole drilled in the bar tip. I haven't decided where to drill the other hole yet.

The bar is level end to end and front to back. The tip is pointed back so the saw end of the bar hits the wood before the tip end, and just the opposite when I cut the other direction.
