I bought a Ms 441 with a 25'' a few days ago and got to use it today for the first time...

Just wanted to say i love it...jumping up from an old 036 that i bought off ebay this is a great saw...

Anyone else have this 441 or the older 440...report on it????

This is one of the most discussed saws on the chainsaw forum. I bought one in january with a 20" bar. It sips fuel, cuts like nobodys buisness, has a wide power band, weighs about the same as my father-in-laws 3.3 CU. inch craftsman, and cuts about 3 times the wood in the same time frame. It will eat a 20" log in seconds.
Only complaint I have about it is that it gets heavy when limbing over head for an entire tank. I guess that I will have to use the Poulan 2300 CVA for that, but it is not nearly as fast as the 441.:jawdrop:

Ya...with the 25...i was bruning through logs like no bodies business..

i could see to where it could get real heavy over head...

MS 260 Pro....and the 441...too favorite chain saws

the 440 is our most picked up saw on the trucks. We have 3 on each crew. 1 with 20" bar and 2 with 25". Haven't tried the 441 yet, but will probably get one when we wear another 440 out. Although I must say for the price and weight of the 441 it is a decision between the 460 and a 441.

I have several 440's...Most of them are unused except for the two I use everyday...I strongly favor the 440 over the 460 or any other saw in the 70cc class. It's light and the 460 just barely outcuts it.I'm still picking up 440's as I luck up and come across them here and there because I like it even better than the 441...Not to say the 441 is a bad saw. It's quiet and super smooth, and it will barely outcut the 440.The only reason I favor the 440 is because the 441 weighs the same as the 460,and lighter weight is why I liked the 440 better in the first place...You made a good choice..I don't know how they'll hold up in the long run as they are fairly new..But all of the 044/440's I've had are kinda like the energizer bunny...They keep going and going..

I have a 6 or 7 yr old 044. For the past 4 yrs. it has been used just about every day (clearing pine off 95 acres (cause I'm a one man operation, that's why it's taking so long)). Since the day I got it I have never had to adjust a jet on the carb or had any other troubles with it. Just kept high test fuel with good oil, clean filters, and it just keeps running. I'd love to try a 441 or 460 but no one I know can afford one. I'm saving my pennies tho. In the mean time, 044 keeps going. Excellent saw!

ents..

Thats good to here....that the 044...is still purring like that

i treat my saws...like if i had a kid... baby them

so to here that a 044 is running that good is awesome sign....i have a 036, and it still purs...

their is no lie about it...Stihl, is the best running saws on the market (personal opinion of course)

When I buy a new 440,I run them sometimes up to three years. That's every single day,and the majority of what I cut is big hardwoods.Usually when I replace them, they're still running. The biggest reason I buy new ones so often is for tax purposes.I keep a 20 inch bar on my 440's,but I do run a 28 inch bar on them quite a bit,and it will happily pull it through the toughest hardwoods.
