Picked up an olld David Bradly saw, anyone have some info on it?

Year, how many CCs?

I think its just parts, But I might try to get it going. Needs jug, flywheel, and rewind.

model number 917.60002

Thanks

Brain ask Lewis about that saw I am sure he can tell you anything you need to know, if you come to the GTG and bring the saw he can tell you anything you need to know about it and where to get parts

Thanks for the link, I had thought it had 1/2 chain did not measure it. But it is 7/16.

If I head down to the GTG I will put it in the car too and see what lewis has to say.

Hello.

Hello timberwolf, that saw is almost the same as mine. Made the same year, same displacement, but is direct drive instead of geardrive. I would suggest if you want to have one to get another saw from ebay (hopefully cheap) and between the 2 make a good one. Otherwise she sounds like a candidate for a parts saw. It does have a cast iron sleeve, so cylinder might be saved, depending on what's wrong with it. Mine was seized, rings stuck to piston, no spark and fuel system full of varnish. I freed her up, cleaned her up, did some repaires and painted her. She now runs fairly well for a saw made in 1956. I hope to be at the GTG if my driver's schedual doesn't change, so will be looking forward to seeing you there. I'll bring the David Bradley I have. Take care. Lewis Brander.

I have an old David Bradley, and I found the IPL and other documents at Sears.com
Not sure what your plans are, but generally DBs aren't especially desired by collectors. Please note the 'generally.'

David Bradleys:

All I can say is that I'd love to get an old Craftsman saw make by Reed Prentice. I have the one David Bradley and feel that it represents saws sold by Sears during the early 50's just fine. Not really planning on getting another unless it is unique in its own way (has a Bow bar, etc) . Lewis.
