Hello! I recently bought an old 036 that's in pretty good shape. I do some small milling and general around the house stuff with my chainsaw. I have been holding out for awhile, waiting to find a larger saw used, but finally couldn't wait. I'm wondering what maintenance or mods I should do to get the most out of my new old saw. I want it to be happy and healthy ;). I'm very handy, but have zero experience with small engine stuff. Also the mill I use most is an Alaskan, and I always use the ripping chains from Bailey s. Any help or opinions are greatly appreciated!

Me too. Tell us about our saws. Mine seems to run very rich and not all the power I'd expect. Leaning the H screw didn't seem to help. I got the muff out ready to mod....

Oops --this should go in the chainsaw forum. Bye.

Mine is off as well. Im not sure how to adjust the carb ( l knob), without a tachometer. Wonder if theres a simple way...

Damn, i thought this may be the wrong thread. Could admin move to appropriate spot?

I found an electronic tach on ebay for ~20 bucks....works well. I changed the gas and it stopped smoking - 91 octane, 45:1 with Stihl Ultra and just a splash of Sta-bil.
